How this works

This tool uses ffmpeg.wasm to re-encode the video with the libx264 codec, adjusting the Constant Rate Factor (CRF) to control quality. Lower CRF means better quality but larger file size; higher CRF means more compression. The audio is re-encoded to AAC at 128 kbps. All processing happens locally — no upload to a server.

Common uses

Shrinking video files for email attachment, reducing size for web uploads, or saving space on your device while keeping acceptable quality.
